Short version: Cookie Auto-Clear does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data. Everything stays on your device.
Cookie Auto-Clear is a free Chrome browser extension that helps users automatically delete cookies from websites they no longer use, while keeping cookies on a personal whitelist.
To perform its function, the extension uses the following Chrome APIs on your device:
The extension does not read the content of any web page. It only uses the URL of open tabs to determine the website's domain.
We collect nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no error reporting, no usage statistics.
The extension has no backend server. It does not make any network requests to any third party.
Your whitelist and settings are stored in two places, both controlled entirely by Google Chrome:
chrome.storage.sync) — so that if you sign in to Chrome on another device, your whitelist follows you. This synchronization is operated by Google as part of Chrome Sync and is governed by Google's privacy policy. We never see, store, or have access to any of this data.
When you install the extension, Chrome will show a permission prompt that includes "Read and change all your data on all websites". This is the standard wording Chrome uses for the cookies and tabs permissions combined with broad host access. It does NOT mean the extension reads page content. Specifically:
The extension does not use any third-party service, library, or API at runtime. There is no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics SDK.
The extension is not directed at children under 13. It does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in a new version of the extension's listing on the Chrome Web Store.
